At the Zimbabwe Economics Society (ZES), we are committed to advancing economic thought, fostering informed policy dialogue, and building the capacity of the next generation of Zimbabwean economists. Our programs are designed to bridge academia, policy, and industry while creating meaningful platforms for knowledge sharing and professional development.

Our Flagship Programs

Summer School

Our annual ZES Summer School is the Society’s premier capacity-building event. It brings together bright young economists, graduate students, and young professionals for an intensive two-week program featuring:
  • Advanced presentations by leading local and international economists
  • Policy workshops and case studies
  • Data analysis and econometrics training
  • Group research projects and presentations
  • Networking with policymakers and industry leaders
Target Audience: Policy makers, Captains of industry, young professionals, students.
Duration: Usually held in August/September.

Monthly Meetings

Held every month, these regular engagements provide a consistent platform for intellectual discourse on Zimbabwe’s economy and global economic trends.
  • Expert presentations on topical economic issues
  • Panel discussions and Q&A sessions
  • Open networking opportunities.
These meetings are open to members and non-members and serve as the heartbeat of our intellectual community

Breakfast Meetings with Stakeholders

Our high-level Breakfast Meetings create intimate platforms for engagement between economists, policymakers, and business leaders.
Past guests have included senior officials from:
  • Ministry of Finance and Economic Development
  • Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe
  • Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI)
  • Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC)
These closed-door sessions allow for candid conversations on policy direction, economic reforms, and private sector perspectives

Professional Trainings & Workshops

We offer targeted short training programs designed to address specific skill gaps in the market, including:
  • Applied Econometrics
  • Public Finance Management
  • Macroeconomic Modelling and Forecasting
  • Data Analytics using R, Stata & Python
  • Policy Analysis and Report Writing
These trainings are facilitated by experienced academics and industry practitioners.

University Outreach Program

We actively engage with universities across Zimbabwe through:

  • Student chapter formations
  • Annual Economics Essay Competition
  • Mentorship programs for undergraduate and postgraduate students
  • Research support and dissertation supervision guidance
